Description

The Mount Washington Glass Company, established in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1837, was known for producing high-quality, decorative glassware in the late 19th century. One of its most famous lines was Royal Flemish glass, produced between 1889 and 1895. This distinctive style featured ornate designs, with gold lines dividing sections of the glass, often decorated with floral patterns and exotic motifs like camels and riders.

A standout piece from this line is a 9.5-inch tall, 4.5-inch wide vase, decorated with delicate pastel flowers. The soft, pastel colors, combined with the intricate gold and enamel detailing, highlight the luxury and craftsmanship associated with Mount Washington glass.

While the Mount Washington Glass Company eventually merged with the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company in 1894, the Royal Flemish line remains one of its most coveted and collectible offerings. These pieces, including this vase, are highly regarded by collectors for their beauty and rarity.
