Description

This Bawo and Dotter, gilded oval plate featuring cherubs is a highly collectible piece of antique French Limoges porcelain. Decorated by the partnership of Charles Dwenger and Alphonse Klingenberg between the 1890s and 1910, these ornate cabinet pieces represent the height of Victorian and Edwardian decorative artistry. The plate features an elegant oval format adorned with intricately rendered mythological cherubs or putti. It showcases heavy, hand-applied gold leaf or gilded trims on the outer border, which highlights a scalloped or embossed rim typical of the factory's signature molds. The central focal point features softly blended, neoclassical, portraying playful winged cupids amidst floral garlands. On the underside, the porcelain bears the recognizable factory backstamp, which includes a green manufacturing mark alongside a red decorating mark reading "AK CD Limoges France".
