Description

The stunning Lladro "Chrysanthemum" Geisha with Fan Figurine represents a classic pinnacle of cultural storytelling and delicate porcelain mastery from the renowned historical workshops in Valencia, Spain. Cataloged under production model number 4990, this highly collectible piece was officially issued in 1978 and enjoyed a successful production run before its official retirement in 1998. Designed by famed sculptor Salvador Debón, the figurine stands 11.5 inches tall, spans 4 inches wide, and belongs to Lladro's celebrated four-piece vintage Geisha series.
The artwork masterfully captures an idealized, romanticized Japanese geisha in a sweetly modest stance. She is attired in a flowing pink kimono detailed with raised, textured chrysanthemum patterns nestled beneath a contrasting pale blue over-robe. Delicate pink porcelain blossoms are precisely hand-set into her high, upswept coiffure to accentuate the detailed facial expression. Her right hand holds a meticulously modeled folding fan close to her chin, emphasizing a quiet, timeless sense of elegance.
Finished in Lladro’s signature high-gloss glaze, the soft pastel palette perfectly highlights the smooth curves and intricate tooling of the porcelain. The underside of the integrated oval base features the official blue-fired stamp reading "Lladro Hand Made in Spain" to verify its absolute authenticity for serious collectors. This retired masterwork serves as a magnificent decorative focal point for a formal living space, bringing an air of quiet sophistication to any curio cabinet, mantel, or art display shelf.
