First issued in 1921 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s independence, the 50 Peso Gold Centenario is one of the most iconic and visually striking gold coins in the world. Though often grouped with the Libertad series, it predates the modern Libertads and stands as a unique tribute to Mexican heritage.

Obverse: Features the Winged Victory (El Ángel de la Independencia) standing proudly in front of the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.
Reverse: Displays the Mexican coat of arms with the eagle perched on a cactus devouring a snake.
